Ken Johnson, LCMFT

One of the unique things about Ken Johnson, is he's someone who does not see people as "broken" and in need of "fixing". Instead, he sees people struggling to deal with life's difficulties and in need of a helping hand. Ken is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist and has a background that includes working in private practices, the public school system, Dole Veteran’s Administration’s PTSD clinic. He also received training for trauma-informed treatment from Dr. Bruce Perry of the Child Trauma Academy in Houston. Ken works with individuals and families ranging from different ages to help address hurdles in life that include PTSD, self-harm, trauma, depression, anger, spirituality, grief, communication , family issues, and divorce. Shonda Moore, LSCSW

Shonda Moore, LSCSW is a State of Kansas licensed clinical social worker and independent practitioner. Shonda received her Master of Social Work degree from The University of Kansas and completed her post-graduate clinical social work supervision at Valeo Behavioral Health Care in Topeka, KS while employed as a psychotherapist. Shonda has 20 years of experience working in a variety of settings (homeless shelters, child welfare—foster care, family preservation, in-home family therapy; community mental health center, hospital emergency room) with people facing life’s many challenges.

Melba J. Mc Gilvrey, LCMFT, LCAC

Melba J. Mc Gilvrey, LCMFT, LCAC, graduated from Friends University in 1997 with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. Prior to this, Melba had worked in the addictions field for twelve years, and, began working with individuals, both adult and adolescent, and their family members, in the drug treatment setting. It was here that Melba developed an avid interest in family therapy. Following her graduate studies, Melba went to work in the Family Preservation and Foster Care arena, providing Intensive Reintegration and Family Therapy to families with children in the custody of the State. Melba has been in private practice since 2006, providing Trauma Informed therapy services to individuals and families, with experience in treating depression, anxiety, grief and loss, addiction and recovery, relationship issues, codependency, blended family issues, PTSD resulting from Domestic Violence and/or physical and sexual abuse, parenting, and family conflict. Sarah is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker and has been helping children,teens, and adults for nearly 20 years. She received her Undergraduate Degree in Social Work from Kansas State University in 2002 and her Masters degree in Social Work from Newman University in 2004. She is a Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Trainer and additionally completed 1A-Clinical Training from Michelle Garcia Winner (Social Thinking®) in San Jose, CA in 2014.

Working in different school settings Sarah started out as a School Social Worker, then in 2013, she worked part-time as a Private Practitioner creating Social Thinkers of Wichita. Most recently in the past six years, Sarah has served as a Behavior Specialist in multiple School Districts.

Sarah's clients come to her for a variety of reasons including ADHD, depression, anxiety, foster/adoptive family dynamics, as well as non-compliance issues in children. Sarah works primarily with children ranging from 5-18, specializing in working with families and children needing help with Behavioral and Social Skills Training.

Meaghan Mackey, LMSW earned her Bachelor Degree of Sociology in 2013 at The State University of Purchase College and then completed her Master of Social Work Degree from New York University in 2015. Upon graduation she was extended an offer of employment at the private psychiatric hospital that she had done her internship and worked there for the next three years. During her time at the hospital, Meaghan was able to work with a wide variety of different mental health issues and populations. Her youngest client was 5 and her oldest was 76. In 2018 Meaghan and her family moved to Wichita and she has been working in the school district helping to identify kiddos who are in need of mental health treatment. With her therapy dog ,Maddie, Lisa utilizes solution focused therapy techniques and mindfulness, cognitive therapy (CBT) during her sessions.

Cindy is a Licensed Professional Counselor who comes to counseling from an education background. She was a high school teacher for a number of years before getting her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Fort Hays State University. She did school counseling for a couple of years and worked for a child advocacy center in western Kansas. She has facilitated a grief group for over four years. She has experience in counseling for grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Christian issues, women’s issues, and with children and adolescents.

Cindy believes that sometimes people just need to talk to someone, to share what they are going through with someone who will listen. She also believes that the client/therapist relationship is very important to therapy and that trust and a positive regard is vital to the positive outcome. She believes that people have worth and that they have the ability to change their lives for the better. The process of getting there is not always easy, but it is worth it.
